But I got nostalgic for color
change in Georgia, so I headed back to Herndon.![]() Arrival, Herndon, 10/23/2003. Not much sign of color change here, yet. A bit. Got here just in time. Headed down the driveway to the cabin, about 1/4 of a mile back in the woods. |

![]() Still driving. |
![]() Getting close.... |

![]() Jim's Cabin, on the far side of Herndon Plantation. |

![]() Looking down the driveway. The front yard (dooryard) is only about 50 ft. deep. Keeps more trees between us and the road. |

![]() The kitchen. Yes, I added electricity and indoor plumbing. Also central heat and air conditioning, telephones and satellite Internet. |

![]() Indoor shower, too! <g> |
![]() But there's a lot more to the cabin than sitting around on the porch. |
![]() There's 40 acres of farmland, freshly plowed after the cotton harvest. |
![]() Several miles of "nature trails" that Jim hacked out of the underbrush. |
![]() There's about 80 acres of scrub timberland, also crossed with nature trails. |
![]() Near the property line. Adjacent to the farm on 2 sides are 65,000 acres of pine forest. You can walk as much as 10 miles east or west before you cross another road. I carry a small GPS system when I go for "real" walks. <g> |

![]() The lawn got away from me this summer. Too much traveling. |
