the side access panel to the under-bunk storage closes tight; it's just unlocked and hanging open in this photo. 4/01 |

it appears that this was Ernie Irvan's race trailer. ernie started racing for kodak in the late '60's ('68?), and the bumper sticker is from that era. 4/01 |
the streaking in the photos is rain. 4/01 |
we've had a lot of rain on the farm this spring. this "pond" was my back yard up until a few weeks ago. 4/01 |
the rear window has been replaced. 4/01 |
here's the "curb side" of the trailer. the streaks are rainwater running down. 4/01 |

4/01: the interior is rough, but the stove and
fridge work. the floor is sound, it just needs new tile. there is no bath in
the unit, normal for pre-1960 trailers. instead, the entire rear third is a
wall-to-wall bed, about a queen-size. the dinette seats are foward of the door,
but there is no built-in dinette table. wardrobe closets (2), furnace and
kitchen are mid-ships. i've been told the furnace works, too, although i
haven't tested it. the bed and dinette cushions have been recently re-upholstered in dark blue. the foam is so firm that i think they're all new cushions. the curtains are fairly new, but are made of a cheap material and bear replacing. still, replace the tile on the floor and scrub everything down good, and after painting the inside of the door i'll have a nicely serviceable unit. i towed the trailer from tennessee to georgia without torsion bars or an anti-sway bar, and it towed just fine. i was driving a '94 blazer 4x4 with a 4.3 l v6. the hitch takes a 2 5/16" ball. |
more work went into putting ernie's name on the trailer than kodak's, as you can tell by the fading. 4/01 |
the body is in good shape except for 2 small "jacknife" dents in the lower front panels. it should be easy enough to bang this out from the inside. it has a good shine to it, and could be polished (i don't see any corrosion on the aluminum). 4/01 |
the sliding screen door is intact and working. yea, the paint job here is pretty ugly. i believe it can be buffed out, but i'm inclined to paint over it. 4/01 |
